• No Over-the-Counter Access: Pharmacies (such as Life Pharmacy or Aster Pharmacy) do not sell abortion medication without an official, restricted medical prescription tied to approved legal grounds.
• Strict Laws: Under UAE federal regulations (including Federal Decree-Law No. 4 of 2016 on Medical Liability and related Cabinet decisions), abortion is strictly restricted and illegal unless specific, narrow conditions are met:
• The pregnancy poses an imminent danger to the woman's life.
• Severe, documented fetal abnormality is confirmed by a medical committee of three specialists.
• The pregnancy is a result of unconsented rape or incest (with official authorities' proof).
• The gestational age is under 120 days.
